For an industrial hall in Hoogeveen, BVT applied a fire-resistant coating system to the main load-bearing steel structure. These works help protect the steel structure, allowing it to retain its load-bearing capacity for a longer period in the event of a fire. This provides additional time for safe evacuation and helps limit potential damage.

Work in Progress

As part of this project, the entire main steel structure was treated with a fire-resistant coating system. Prior to the application, the steelwork was carefully prepared and surrounding areas were masked to ensure a clean and efficient execution.

Following the preparation work, the fire-resistant coating was applied. The structure was then finished with a topcoat, creating not only the required fire resistance but also a durable and professional finish.

What Exactly Are We Doing Here?

Steel is a strong construction material, but it quickly loses its load-bearing capacity when exposed to high temperatures. A fire-resistant coating forms an insulating layer when exposed to fire, slowing down the heating process of the steel.

As a result, the structure remains stable for a longer period, providing valuable additional time for evacuation and emergency services. Depending on the project requirements, a fire-resistant coating system can achieve a specific fire resistance rating that matches the intended use of the building.

Thanks to thorough preparation and precise execution, the project was completed according to schedule. The result is a durable, professionally finished steel structure that contributes to the overall fire safety of the industrial hall and meets the required standards.
